Well, dang.
It’s like I never said anything.
So the New York Post reports that Robert Fitzpatrick (a retired transit authority employee from Staten Island) just spent his life savings ($140,000) on ads warning everyone that Judgment Day is coming next Saturday (May 21).
Fitzpatrick says that “A giant earthquake will render the earth uninhabitable” next Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Well, that means that the earthquake is going to hit about the fourth inning of my grandson’s scheduled baseball game . . . but that’s not what makes me unhappy. No.
What makes me unhappy is that I sent out word over a year ago to all of Harold Camping’s followers that I would take their stuff since they didn’t really need it — I mean with the world ending and all.
But, nobody has taken me up on the offer.
Not a single one.
I never heard one word from Mr. Fitzpatrick . . . and there he is, throwing all that folding money away on ads . . . in New York City!
And I sure use $140,000 about now.
And on top of that, I could have saved him from all that frustration and anger he’s going to feel around 6:15 p.m. or so, next Saturday.
Dang.

I hate to say it, but it looks to me like Robert has what may be called that “terminal look”. I’m no doctor, but maybe hospice is in order…especially on the 22nd.
I’m in Australia – so exactly whose Saturday, and whose 6 o’clock is it – and how was that worked out??
(Remember an old Peanuts cartoon (from memory) – The way I see it the world can’t end today because it’s already tomorrow in some other part of the world.)
Ellen, great question, Harold says the earthquake will begin in each timezone at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st and roll progressively around the world — so that means y’all will start us off.
Sorry, but that’s just one more reason why you shouldn’t live in Australia.
; )
We’ll let you know!
Looking forward to hearing from you! Looks like you’ve got a little over 10 hours to go, so if we don’t hear from you by 6:15 p.m. your time, we’ll start checking the seismographs.
Well …. We give thanks to the Lord for a still, sunny, mild autumn day here. It’s around 9 p.m. now and no rumbles that I’ve heard. I was preoccupied around tea time, but I’m sure I’d have noticed.
I do so pray that these poor folk won’t start looking for another date. I grew up in a premil church and I can still remember our pastor telling us we’d be lucky to see 1984.
I don’t think you’ll need the seismographs. Have a blessed Lord’s Day – He is risen indeed!
Amen and thanks for the report Ellen. You’re absolutely correct on the need for prayer for all those who have been deceived by Harold Camping (again!). I’m sure there will be a backlash and it’s terribly sad to think that so many hung their hopes and mortgaged their futures on the false teachings of a man like Camping.
It’s never a good thing when Christians do foolish things (which is why we ought to warn them in every way possible — including mocking foolish teachings that are set forth). Now we’ll all have to deal with the mocking of the world — regardless of whether we opposed Camping or not.
